Mergers and acquisitions (M&A) are happening across the AEC industry at a steady pace. For many staff—from principals and project managers to marketing and business development professionals—a merger or acquisition can feel disorienting. This session brings together people who have lived through it to share what actually happens, what to expect, and how to adapt.

This is not a session about deal-making or finance. It is a practical conversation about the real-world impact of M&A on AEC firms, teams, and individuals — and what you can do to stay effective and positioned for success when your firm goes through a transaction.

Scott D. Butcher, FSMPS, CPSM from Stambaugh Ness will moderate a group of AEC panelists who will share their experiences.

Learning Objectives:

Attendees will leave this session able to:
1.    Understand what typically happens to firm culture, brand, and operations after a merger or acquisition
2.    Know what questions to ask when leadership announces a transaction
3.    Recognize the common challenges marketing and BD teams face during firm transitions
4.    Learn how to protect and reposition client relationships during an ownership change

Who should Attend?

  • Owners and principals of architecture, engineering, and general contracting firms
  • Seller-doers and project managers navigating firm transitions
  • Marketing and business development staff at AEC firms
  • Anyone whose AEC firm has been acquired, merged, or is anticipating a transaction
