President's Letter - January 2026

Say Yes: A Challenge for 2026 ✨
Being SMPS CT President was never on my bingo card. But I showed up. I joined committees, attended events, and made friends, successful, confident friends who knew how to get things done. It turned out that a lot of those friends were past presidents of SMPS Connecticut. Coincidence? I think not.
🎯 Four months into my presidency, here's what I've learned: the best things happen when you say yes to opportunities that scare you a little. You don't need to have it all figured out before you step up. You need a willingness to try and the right people around you.
💬 How Is It Being President?
That's the number one question I get. My answer? It's been better than I expected. Being President of SMPS CT has been fun, challenging, and enlightening. It's amazing what you can accomplish when you focus on what matters and let go of the rest. I'm growing in ways I didn't expect, and I'm excited about what the next twelve months have in store for our board, committee chairs, volunteers, and members.
We have a great group, and I am lucky to lead them.
✅ What Will You Say Yes to in 2026?
The quote at the bottom of my email signature feels truer today than ever:
💭 "If we all did the things we are capable of, we would literally astound ourselves." - Thomas Edison
So here's my challenge: Say yes to that thing you keep putting off until you have "more time."
🤝 Volunteer for a committee
🌟 Attend an event outside your comfort zone
👋 Introduce yourself to someone new
💡 Share your expertise at a program
Surround yourself with people who inspire and push you, and you will surprise yourself.
Let's Connect. Let's Build!
