Hello SMPS CT!
Happy Spring! The program year is beginning to wind down, but don’t worry – we’ve still got a ton of great things on the horizon.
Over the last few months, we’ve accomplished a lot. Since February we’ve held a lot of successful programs, ranging in topics from Winning Interviews to a BD Bootcamp to Marketing Emails. We hosted a Project Tour of the new New Canaan Library, started up our mentorship cohorts, and most recently held a DEI panel all about Navigating Transitions into the Industry.
Our volunteers and members have been working hard and achieving great things too! After the March testing window, we now have three new CPSMs in Connecticut. That means about 20% of our members are CPSMs now, but I think we can do even better! The new Markendium just got released, and our education committee is hard at work to get our next round of study groups ready to launch in the fall. If you’ve ever thought about taking the exam, now’s a great time to start! Just reach out to our education committee here: [email protected]
At the Northeast Region Conference (NERC) for SMPS, we had five members speaking across three sessions ranging in topics from Business Development to DEI to Proposal Management. Having SMPS CT represented so well by our members was a joy to see. I learned so much at their sessions, and I was so excited to be able to cheer them on in person. My first ever SMPS event was actually a Northeast Regional Conference, so they definitely hold a special place in my heart. Over a decade later, and I still love attending NERC!
There’s a lot of great stuff coming up as well. On June 14th, we will be hosting our Annual Meeting and Client Panel at the Pond House. In addition to a deep dive into the future of our industry, the economy, and growing markets like Healthcare, Cannabis, Electric Vehicles, and Environmental Protection, we’ll be celebrating the end of the program year as well as the winners of the Professional Achievement Awards! It’s looking to be a great event, so we hope to see you there!
Don’t worry, though – just because the program year is closing doesn’t mean we don’t have a ton of great events coming up. We’ll be hosting more educational workshops for another Summer School Series as well as hosting another Golf Social. We’ll also be holding more Mentorship Cohort sessions and one-on-one meetups, and of course we’ll be hard at work planning for next term. In fact, our strategic planning session will be happening soon, so make sure you keep an eye out for that!
I want to give a special shout out to all SMPS Connecticut members and volunteers who have committed their time and expertise to our chapter over the last six months to propel our initiatives forward. Our chapter wouldn’t be where it is without their dedication and hard work. If you’re interested in volunteering with us, check out our committees page for volunteer opportunities and descriptions. Getting involved with SMPS is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made – I know I wouldn’t be where I am today without the experience, knowledge, and connections I’ve made through SMPS.
Make sure to check our social media (LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter) and our Wednesdays are for SMPS CT emails for more exciting announcements. No matter your experience-level, role, or status in the A/E/C industry, we welcome you to becoming a part of the SMPS Connecticut community! Join our community of marketers, business developers, technical professionals, students, business owners and principals, and get involved: become a member, join a committee, lead a program, join the mentorship cohort, or attend an event.
Thank you,
