President's Letter - March 2024

Hi SMPS CT –

It’s hard for me to believe that we are already halfway through the 2023-2024 program year; time does fly when you’re having fun! The winter months brought us together for a cozy fireside chat with Sharon Pomeroy and Christina Rossi, a discussion on engaging everyone in social media content with Sam VanSchoick, and a lively conversation on understanding the State’s selection process with David Barkin and Rebecca Cutler. As we move into longer days and warmer temperatures, SMPS CT continues to provide ways to learn new things, engage with peers, and continue professional growth.

Speaking of professional growth, our next round of CPSM candidates have been studying hard throughout the fall and winter for their exam in March. I wanted to extend a thank you to all our domain champions who have worked hard to help get everyone prepared and wish our candidates the best of luck. If you are interested in joining future study groups or just want to learn a bit more about the credential, I encourage you to reach out to our professional development committee at [email protected].

The Spring months are bringing even more exciting programs to our members! On March 21st, we’re hosting a New Member & Chapter Volunteer Social that will help us welcome our newest members and celebrate the volunteers who run our chapter. We are also thrilled to be holding our SMPS CT Marketing Communications Awards Golden Gala on April 17th – we’ve received some fantastic entries and can’t wait to honor the brightest and best in marketing by Connecticut professional service firms. Our Professional Development Committee is working hard – so stay tuned and check the website for more information on what’s coming this Spring.

I’m truly proud of all that our Chapter has accomplished so far this year, and all that is yet to come. We have such an amazing, talented, and dedicated group of volunteers who continue to think outside the box and ensure that our members get the most out of their membership. If you are interested in volunteering, I encourage you to check out our Committees page for opportunities and descriptions.

Happy Spring everyone – and thank you!

Sincerely

Dana Lee
