DEI Moment with Lisa Pavano, CPSM: July 2025

Let’s talk about something we don’t always say out loud at work: sometimes, you’re just not feeling it. Maybe your brain’s fried. Maybe you’ve got something heavy going on outside of work. Or maybe… You just need a minute.

We tend to cheer on the people who are always “on”—chipper, energized, jumping into everything. But let’s be real: that’s not sustainable every single day. And that’s totally okay.

Mental and emotional energy matter just as much as physical health. If we really want to create an inclusive space, we need to make room for people to step back when they need to, without judgment or assumptions.

So if someone’s a little quieter in a meeting, skips the happy hour, or takes a mental health day, it doesn’t mean they’re not showing up. It just means they’re human.

This week, give yourself (and the people around you) a little grace. You never know what someone’s carrying, and a little compassion can go a long way.
